BPPV
"
After being left thoroughly disappointed with my GP (prescribed tablets to help with the symptoms with possible side effects of exacerbated them!) Samy managed to squeeze me in as I was flying a few days later, my BPPV was sorted in just one session. Can not thank or recommend him highly enough, thanks again Samy.

BPPV

I had suffered with vertigo for some time before seeing Samy. He diagnosed the problem (BPPV) and manipulated my head at the first appointment. I felt fuzzy-headed for about 48 hours following the treatment but was then OK. Samy had mentioned that this would probably happen. At the second appointment he checked that the vertigo had gone. He was very understanding and professional. It is wonderful to be clear-headed again. I highly recommend Samy.

I had suffered with dizziness (BPPV) for about 10 days. It was impacting my ability to perform my job and certain aspects of daily living. Sleeping was the most difficult, as lying down made my dizziness worse. I was referred to Samy by a friend – I only needed the one visit. Samy performed a series of manoeuvres to my head which gave instant results.
I felt a little ‘off’ for the following 36 hours but after that passed it was as though I had never suffered. It is indescribable in terms of the impact this intervention has on BPPV. Thank you Samy!!

'Treatment for vertigo was excellent. I have been suffering on and off for two years.
A friend recommended this clinic and the physiotherapist Samy Selvanayagam. His subject knowledge and treatment were both first class.'

During the third and an extended bout of extreme dizziness and nausea I visited the GP who diagnosed ‘vertigo’. He gave me a chance to read about the condition on his computer screen so that I could confirm my symptoms, told me that it was ‘not a life-threatening condition’ and concluded that I would ‘learn to live with it’.
I left the surgery with a fact sheet and a repeat prescription for the antihistamine. I was devastated. One month later nothing had changed apart from the medication made me lethargic and I had not learned to live with it. In fact, if anything it had become more difficult to live with because the tinnitus had increased and I had lost all hearing in my left ear and it was compromised in the right ear.
I could not comprehend how I was to live with this – I could not walk in a straight line, I was unable to drive, to hear, to sleep.
I searched for help – I found Samy Selvanayagam at the DizzyCare Clinic.
I left a message on Samy’s website, he answered immediately – he said ‘I can help you’. I made an appointment the very next day and saw Samy the same day. During the first visit, he diagnosed my condition, which was a little more complicated than vertigo! He treated the extreme dizziness immediately with the Epley manoeuvre – the extreme ‘swimming’ dizziness was reduced to mild dizziness and I was able to walk out of his consulting room unaided. After an evening of rest and relaxation, I woke the next morning with no signs of dizziness at all.
Three further appointments, at monthly intervals, allowed Samy to tackle the cause of the tinnitus and loss of hearing. He prescribed a series of exercises to ‘rehabilitate’ my balance and an eating programme to remove possible dietary triggers for the symptoms I had presented. In three months the tinnitus had faded and disappeared and the last improvement was the return of my hearing.
I did not have to learn to live with it – Samy enabled me to be free from it.
I cannot thank him enough. I will be forever grateful for his calm, quiet and knowledgeable approach which filled me with confidence on our very first meeting. I know that if this condition does reappear he will be there to help me – I do not have to live with it.

Vestibular Hypofunction

I had been suffering from what I had been told was vertigo for some years which seemed to be cured by tablets.
I would have months/years free from this vertigo before it returned. I had to go back to taking tablets.
I went to see an ENT consultant regarding this problem. I had various tests and a brain scan. It was then decided that the balance of my left ear had become useless and this was causing the problem. I was advised that eventually, the balance of the other ear would rectify this.
In July of 2018, I became quite ill with a new attack of vertigo which caused sickness, generally feeling unbalanced and dizzy on and off. I resorted once more to medication.
Through a distant family member, I heard about this 'DizzyCare Clinic' at Codsall where Samy Selvanayagam practiced. I made an appointment on November 10th, 2018 to see Samy to which, my daughter accompanied me.
Samy gave me various tests to do namely
a) Standing perfectly still
b) Looking up
c) Lying on a bed on each side whilst he took videography of my eyes.
d) Complete a tick sheet of various tasks which gave you a number out of 100.
He explained that taking medication for vertigo is not advisable as it would interfere with natural recovery.
He gave me various exercises including moving head side to side and up and down while looking at an X that was attached on a wall in front.
I saw him again on December 15th but I had to resort to medication during this time just for a few days. Samy then gave me a whole list of exercises to do many of them to do with balancing & eye positions.
I had not and have not had any dizziness since doing these exercises and so when I saw him again on January 2019 he discharged me.
I am still doing these exercises daily in the hope that my vertigo has been cured

I’ve recently used Dizzy Care Clinic as I’ve been suffering from inner ear/ balance problems.
My experience has been that Samy offers an excellent, patient-focused service. He is very thorough, taking time not only to diagnose the problem, but also to explain it in layman’s terms; he uses the same methodology to explain the treatment and how it will work.
I’ve been delighted, and should I ever need to use him again, I would not hesitate to do so.
